Hyundai free servicing - midlifecrisis
Just purchased a Jan 2005 54 plate Getz 1.3 GSi for the wife. I've been doing a bit of browsing on the net and there's lots of talk of three years free servicing. The car is ex Hyundai fleet, so would this car have been eligible for the free servicing package. I pick it up next friday when I'll ask the dealer, but forewarned is forearmed as they sya.

Very difficult to say.

Hyundai do offer the free servicing deal but I don't think it's part of any standard package from the manufacturer -- a lot of cars are sold at a discount without the servicing arrangements, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the fleet cars weren't covered by this either.

Maybe bit late asking after you have bought it?

But would certainly push for it if they are selling at a retail price, not ex fleet prce to you.

I would approach the dealer along the lines of:
MLC " See you when it's next free service is due"
Dealer "Sorry sir, but it's not included on this car"
MLC "But I assumed they were all covered - I'm very disappointed now"
Then hopefully -
Dealer "Oh, OK sir, as you are a valued customer.........."
After all, it's only going to be one service between now and Jan 2008. It's not going to break the dealer and they may keep a customer for the future.

I have a Tucson purchased in January with five years or 50 thousand miles free servicing. But unlike the 5 year warranty the service deal is not transferable, so I would be fairly certain yours will not have the service package

The 'free servicing' is actually paid for by the dealer. If you bought from a supermarket, or on some kind of discounted deal, then I would think that the servicing would not be included.

Daughter had a Getz, and "free servicing" was part of the deal. The dealer who did the servicing didn't do a lot though. I've always avoided these sort of deals, and prefer to have some control over just what is done. The only person who ever took any of the wheels off for any purpose was me, changing a wheel.

Hi MLC - Looked at the Getz 1.3Gsi for the Mrs last year. Due to another change in our circumstances we're looking again now so I'd be interested to know what the mileage is and what sort of money you paid. Also what are your overall impressions of the car? Cheers.

Our Hyundai has three years free servicing (up to 30,000miles), but it was a limited offer, dealer paid (so they tried to get something back by suggesting new brake pads last time!). Unlikey to be available to MLC if it was not a retail purchase when new.

I didn't find out about the servicing until I got home and was 'surfing' the net. It's not a big deal. I bought it from a Hyundai dealer (not local). It's got 26000m, jan 05 reg, 1.3 GSi and was up at £4695. As mentioned, p/x'd the 02 reg Fiesta plus £800. I wouldn't say the missus is 'thrilled' , but she's never actually seen one in the flesh yet!!! She was hoping for something 'sporty' but the budget was limited. My impression was that it seemed well screwed together, was a nice size and had everything that a second car needed.

What swung it was the remaining three years of warranty (and a years RAC recovery). While I'm sure that it will have plenty of exclusions as time goes on, at least we have some piece of mind. I certainly won't be ashamed to be seen in it.

MLC, you could cover it out of your comp grant. ;-)

Talking to an older bobby a few years ago (now long retired) he told me his tale. His SWMBO went to a Police Knives (sorry Wives) do, anyway talk of the legendary Compensatory Grant came round. When she got home she questioned our hero about the grant - which to those who don't know is a £600 ? annual tax rebate that some Officers get - quick as a flash he replied "It's ok love I've paid it"

I think that it is a special offer on new Hyundais only from 1 April to June.
Last month the offer was get a higher spec model for the price of a more basic one.
Which SWMBO did. And rather nice as well.
