Hi I am hoping somebody may be able to help. I have a 1998 Rover 200i (bubble shape) and just recently the sidelights (front and back) have refused to go off when the ignition is on, even when they are switched off at the stalk on the dashboard. I have checked fuses etc. and all seems OK.
This seems to have started happening just after I replaced a blown fuse for my rear brake and reverse lights, although this may be coincidence.
Does anybody know how I fix this problem? Thanks

Blown fuses usually mean something's gone on somewhere.
Check all the bulbs for functionality, it could be that a brake light blew and the filament is shorting the side lights on (assuming they are combined in one lamp).

If my memory serves me right this can be a fault caused by the dim dip relay

Check the wiring to the tailgate where it runs thro the rubber trunking. The insulation cracks and the wiring can short out/rub together.Initial symptoms are fuses blowing to sidelight and rear wiper circuit.hth

I had a similar problem with my Escort. Cause turned out to be a blown taillight bulb.

You could always swap the Rover badges for Volvo ones...;-)
