VW Transporter 55 reg 'ASR' Button - stuartl
I have just taken delivery of my new company van but the handbook is missing. There is a button on the dash marked 'ASR'. When depressed a triangle with a '!' in the middle surrounded by a circular arrow appears on the dash.

Anyone know what this button is please?

It's official definition is Anti-Slip Regulation

But to the man on the street, it's yet another way of saying traction control.

Also, Just so you know, pressing the button will light up the button and a warning light on the dash. This indicates that you've switched off the traction control...It is on by default
note, sometimes if there is a fault, the ecu will turn it off and the light will come on- I had this as an intermittent fault on my Father in laws Golf V, dealer couldn't work out why though....stopped after 6 months...

Great information Charles, thank you

But what does it do? I can see why it might be useful driving up a scree slope of a mountain in Wales, but I don't think a VW transporter van is likely to be taken up a scree slope.

What about snowy roads; wet junctions/ roundabouts with a bit of diesel spillage?

You know how white vans get driven, sometimes regarded as the fastest things on four wheels. ;o)
