Focus ST170- Loss of power

Focus ST170- Loss of power - Hizzett
Hi, I have just recently brought a Focus ST170. Sometime when driving it will loose all of its power, the engine sounds fine, just no power. if i switch it off then back on again its fine. any ideas what would be the cause of this?

Sounds like the ECU has gone into "limp mode" and is re-setting itself after switch off.

Thanks for the reply. I was expecting it to be related to the ECU. is this a big job to solve? just concered how long it will be in the garage for as I will be going away soon. Good job the car is under warrenty still.

It depends on why the ECU has gone into limp home mode. It could just be something simple like a failed sensor or a loose connection somewhere, but you need to get the fault codes read at a dealer to establish where the problem lies.

Ok thanks. Its now booked in for Friday.
Nothing worse than having a powerfull car that wont go over 40mph.
