Good mate of mine will need to get shot of a Merc CLK at some point because of a second child on the way.

i've tried to get him interested in the new XF, which he's warming to, but his missus doesn't like Jags because 'they're old mens cars'.........nice!

whilst he was in my office, I rang my local dealership to enquire of the XF......apparently it's going to be available in January, not December......the salesman said they've had unprecedented interest (although i suppose they would do wouldn't they)..but they'd had 24 deposits already.........nearly a year in advance!.....he reckoned that with 23 years service at that garage with that marque, he'd never seen such excitement and interest in the launch of a new model, totally eclipsing the recent XK.

new beginning for Jaguar maybe?

On sale (UK) date for the XF is 03 March 07, 16 April for North America and Europe, 14 May for the rest of the world.

Unfortunatly there are some big changes from the Concept XF to the actual XF which goes on sale. However, still one of the nicest looking cars I have ever worked on.

07?

Apologies it is of course 2008. I still think I am in 2006!

My local dealer seemed to think they were trying to pull the launch date forward to the end of this year when I spoke to him 2 weeks ago....might be just sales optimism though.

But will it look anything like the lovely concept!!

It is very difficult to pull 3 months out of any program.......more than likely 3 months is added to a program!

Agreed...suspect he was trying to generate some excitement (and a deposit)!

Beauty in the eye of etc. , but to my probably minority view, it's a big brutal pig of a thing. It's more the on-steroids look the
Yanks would go for : power bulges in the unlikeliest of places , over developed 'shoulders' , humungous haunches with an over pronounced
big cat 'pounce' & absurdly low profile tyres/wheels almost exceeding the body width. The interior looks like a device more for extracting
confessions than a comfort zone - check out those seats!

If, as BB says, there are some major differences between concept & actual production versions (styling mainly?) , it's probably a good thing.
Will it come with the usual confection of big-six, V8 & 2.7 diesel engines?

woodbines - I am with you although I am sure that it might grow on me. Looks like some mutated cross between an S-Max and DB9
