Have bought a 03 plate used approved Bmw 320ci Sport Auto convertible. They are always sold as having Full BMW service history. My fault as i never looked, just trusted dealer. got it home to see in the service book, it had a service at 15K in 2004, then absolutly nothing. the car has 41K miles on it. so it should have had a service at 30K ish in 2005. it is now 2007. We bought it hoem with 4700 miles to go before service, guy said he would do us a good deal on service. 1 day after getting home and 60 miles later it now shows 3900 on service indicator.
Used approved should have service done if 4000 or below.
have phoned for a month now, and the salesman, takes around 4-5 days returning my calls. not had a call back for 1 week and 1 day now. so have written a letter stating the facts and that i want to know where and when the 30K mile service was done.
what i would like to know is if i get no joy from BMW dealer, can i take my case to BMW UK?
or should i start with BMW dealer principle? MD ?

I have also just bought a 03 330i convertible from a BMW dealer and they went to great pains detailing how good their authorised used cars were. One requirement is that servicing MUST be strictly in accordance with the BMW schedule. Depending on conditions you can go for about 15/16k between services/oil changes if longlife oil is used. The service indicator should I believe count down in 50 mile segments and if you overun it shows an opposite count. Also for low mileage the time limit of 2 years applies.
Your car hasn't been serviced for 26k miles so I would question how the indicator was showing 4700 miles to go. I would also question a 800 drop in one go --- although someone may confirm this can happen.
When I bought my car with 25000 miles it was showing 4150 to go and as part of the deal the dealer has confirmed (in writing) that they will reduce the cost when due by £150. In view of the other bits of the deal I was happy with this.
You need an explanation and yes, you are right to put things in writing. Always use recorded delivery and stipulate a time limit when you expect to receive a reply by. Advice them that if you do not get a satisfactory explanation you will take the matter up with BMW uk. If your car has not been serviced correctly then it does not qualify to be classed as an authorised car.
Moral of this ------ always look at the documention! Also don't be afraid to make a nuisance of youself over this -- if the dealer was fairly local I'd be back in their showroom over this. They won't want other customers to hear a hacked off one on their premises.
Good luck on this one ---- let us know what happens

Yes, very pleased --- so far!! No, really these are lovely machines, especially with the 3 litre engine. Mine has the hardtop which makes it look like a coupe when in place -- where it will be for most of the year! Haven't had the hardtop off yet but dealer gave me demo & it only takes a couple of minutes but does need 2 people.

Was this car sold new by the dealer ? If so they can confirm the service record on their systems. It may be as simple as not having the book stamped.

Very likely.

Give a call to BMW GB on 0800325600, and give them your car reg number. They will give all the dates that the car has visited a BMW dealership in the UK, from the day the car had its PDI.

Does the BMW AUC program still offer a 30 day exchange option? If you're no longer happy with the car perhaps you can change it for another?

It does, but there has to a fault which can't be resolved.

You sat they are sold as having full service history. If this cannot be proven by the the dealer then you should have a strong trades description case. I would check this out to get the facts straight and take it from there.....should have checked the docs though!
