Rover 220SDi - MOT smoke test

Rover 220SDi - MOT smoke test - g4ukf
This car only just through the MOT smoke test with a reading of 2.93 after several attempts. What can I do in the next year to improve the figures?

Change the oil and air filter. Take it for a good Italian Tune Up. Maybe use one of the many fuel additives available from Halfords etc.

I've seen Cataclean work wonders, and would be surprised if your Rover didn't pass on the 1st rev next year. Also personally used, and tested, a Fuchs dieselclean product on old buses to great effect, but it's more of a trade product.
