Clio timing belt

Clio timing belt - nothappy
1995 clio 1.4 auotomatic, RAC guy said my timing belt had gone, when it happened there was no unusual noise from the engine the car just drifted to a stop, do I definately have engine damage or could I be lucky.

sorry but you will have 6 out of 8 bent valves (usually 2 ex valves survive but change all 8 approx £4-500 bill

Are you sure it isn't the automatic gearbox which has failed - the engine is running or not?
You are very lucky also if this is still working on a Clio of that age, never mind the timing belt.
