I don't want to start criticising a car before comes on to the market, but...The pictures of the new MINI Traveller I saw in this week's AutoExpress had me aghast (well almost). Mainly as regards the number and thickness of pillars between the body and roof - a thick A, a B at the front of the rear door, a C to the trailing edge of the rear door, a D where you normally expect a D, and finally an E where the two tailgate doors meet. What's the visibility going to be like out of this? And will people bother, so long as they have the latest fashion accessory?

right or wrong? in my experience a large proportion of people buy cars on what they look like; regardless of how they drive or what visibility is like or what economy/power etc etc.
It will sell!

As has been said in a recent thread, how the car looks is of paramount importance to me when choosing. Then it would be how it drives. Visibility would be so far down the list it wouldn't even be on it. (Pretty much the same with economy too).
But I wouldn't buy a Mini Anything, so we're in agreement there.

Visibilty out wouldn't be high on my list of priorities either - I think if a car had 'bad' visibility, you'd either adapt to it, or put up with it and move on to something else before too long. Another point I should have made earlier was about 'retro design' (a tautology in my opinion). The original Austin Mini Traveller had those vertically split doors, so the bods at BMW seemed to think 'lets copy that, no matter what current structural needs get in the way', and you end up the mess I described earlier.
