i bought a 6 month tax disc last week for my car but got a different car now, but it has no tax. can i transfer the tax between the two cars? - if so how do i go about it.

No - is the simple answer.
Apply for a refund on existing tax disc then apply in the usual way for the new one.

As long as both cars where the same make, you could some new number plates made up with the previous cars number. That'd work.

i like the questions adam-f asks. but sometimes (or is it most times) he gets no replies at all !!

and how about closing the loop on all those questions you asked but never told us whether any of the solutions worked?

for example, what happened to your emissions problem? i still don't know why you could not quote the emission failure figures for your car although you asked a question about it?

it would be nice to get feedback after all the help people have given.

sorry that i dont always reply. i will make more effort.

dont go through a lot of cars, just get a lot of guys from work ask me to ask you guys.

the emision thing was on my bmw 318 coupe - it was a lambada sensor (if that sounds right) and the mot garage's machine was a bit faulty i was told, passed at the next one.

my apologise and i thank everyone who helps with there replys

Don't forget that you pay a premium - 10% I think - for the 6month disc when compared to the pro-rata price of a 12 month one, which you won't get a refund for. You also only get a refund for whole months unused, so you might not get back as much as you think...

i have all relevent bits now. downloaded a form from dvla and have to send it off. but have to wait between 3-6 weeks for refund.
they dont let me get my tax 3-6 weeks later do they.
