exhaust mot query - allan doc
My car is due an MOT and has a hole in the rear silencer. Would this fail an MOT because of this?

It may.

Extracts from testers manual:

Reason for rejection

A major leak of exhaust gases from any part of the system

Note: A minor exhaust leak from, for example, a connection joint or a pin hole, is not a Reason for Rejection

Note: A durable repair to an exhaust system which effectively prevents leaks is acceptable providing the system is structurally sound

My local garage allows a patched silencer as long as there are no leaks.
