Auction price silly season? - daveyK_UK

was drving to a site in Whitehaven and had the whole day to get there, so we left early - and nipped into Preston BCA on the way to see if I could pick anything up.

Very expensive IMO.

everything seemed dear.

big motability section which the dealers where crawling over. Prices where well over book, and some tight profit margins (or they have buyers lined up).
However, I must say - alot of the motorbility stock iwas in poor condition. Of the 4 picassos that tempted me, 3 had been through a bumper or panel re-spray.

Even part-ex where expensive.

for example, a 5 door honda civic p plate with 64k - on an se trim.
it was well worn, had quite a bit of surface rust on one arch and if you looked close enough - the bumper had been through a re-spray.

made over £800 quid!
When I was in the game, I would have offered £300 tops as a trade in.

so are we in the midst of silly season?
or was it a case of dealers stocking up?

I Got my picasso from the very same auction this time last year,

i paid 5600 for an 02 sx in the right colour with 11k on it

i wonder if there was lot of private punters there ?
A llot had damaged on them the day i went except for mine which didnt even have a scratch on it,

one in particular had a swayth line on it longer on one side than the other,

how can people bid on those sorts of cars ??

i know its dark in the car park but on the rostrum

What engine was that- seems a good price?

I paid £4950 for my 02 Picasso SX in Arctic Steel metallic at Blackbushe in April (47K miles and HDi)

As an after thought- a dealer near me is trying to sell a car very similar to mine for £7K.

Any regular auction goers know what an 02 Laguna 1.9 dci estate high milers 100kish typicaly go for?

I am seeing them sold by traders for £4k and thinking god they must be cheap at auction.

Might be worth trying to get one if they are cheap

Mone is 1.6 petrol

i was after a diesel but they were well knacked,

ive heard stories since of people on motability using their cars as taxis.

as for the price it was about 800 less than a private priced car and about 2000 less thana dealer

incidentally i only got mine from an auction after i told a second hand dealer i didnt have as much to spend as he wanted for the ones on the forecourt, so he took me inside and shown me the whole process of re registering it etc, and which auctions do motabillity and wghich days
can you imagine the main dealer doing that

since then ive always told my friends what a good guy he was and a few people i know have bought cars of him.
