My Rover 416i - verona
I have just recently given my Rover 416i to my daughter (as a gift) as I no longer need it. It has always been a good runner until now. Every time she uses it, the engine cuts out. It will start again but cuts out intermittently. I'm embarrassed. It was a great car. Had no problems with it. What could it be?

If it's the Honda engine, then sometimes the distributor ignition module can play up. However it may have a K Series engine. What age is the car?

With the 1.6 Rovers the way to tell if its a Honda lump or Rover lump is open the bonnet, stand at the front looking at the car & see which side the gearbox is.

If its on the left then its a Honda engine.

Gearbox on the right then its a Rover engine.

Theres an easier way to tell than that :-)

If its the older pre-95 shape it'll be a Honda engine, if its the later hatchback shape it has a K-series (unless its an Auto, which all have a Honda engine). The only time this doesn't work is if its a late, old shape Tourer with the bubble shape Rover 200 dash.... then its also a K-series.

If it's the Honda engine, it will almost certainly be one of two things: the ingiter module...
