2005 Fiesta Stereo Removal - pcmd1970
I'm getting a 2005 Fiesta next week which comes with a tape deck which I want to replace with a CD. In my previous fiesta the stereo came out easily using U shaped tools and I put in a CD with a wiring harness, this one doesn't look like it will come out the same way.

Quick search on the net didn't yield much except warnings that it's very tricky and involves disconnecting the heater - has anyone done this and is it really as difficult as is being suggested. If so and I decide to pay for the job will somewhere like Halfords charge much more than usual? any help appreciated

Ask dealer how much to remove and how much for an upgrade.
Ask halfords as well.
Also ask a local ice installer .
Put all 3 results together and somebody will have the right answer im sure.

By 2005 fiesta, i assume you mean the one before ford introduced the redesigned dash.
If you want step by step instructions of how to remove the stereo on this model they are on the UKFN (uk fiesta network) website, and include a part code for the "sat nav" dash insert required for a DIN fitting.
The task isn't too difficult to do, but there is a risk of scratching the old head unit badly and a chance that you will break a clip that holds the heater control but this second thing is cheap to replace.

It's a Mk6 - thanks for the pointer to the UKFn site - it's a reaaly good source. The job does sound like a nightmare though - Paul
