SORN'd or not?? - martint123
A friend (yes, really) SORN'd his car at the back end of last year and cashed in the tax disc as it's a summer runabout and he has other transport. When he checked the DVLA site it said it was taxed and when he went to the post office to tax it, they said the same. And yes, he really got the cash back for the disc.

I suggested to him to apply for a lost disc in that case and see what happens. What do you reckon??

5 years for purjery is a long time to save £100 oh and its a £200/£5000 fine
tell him to tax it in the normal way and ignore what the computer says

As I said in the first post, he can't tax it - the Post Office says it is already taxed when they scan the form and can't proceed.

And this is the sort of advanced technology (NOT!) that is going to run a GPS based road charging scheme for 30 million vehicles at a time? I don't think so!
