can anybody help me on this one... the drivers window will go up when button is pressed but will stop after about an inch and come back down. If you hold the button down the window goes up two inches then back down again, you have to keep playing with it to get the window to close properly. Is this a common problem with these vectra's because at the moment i spend more time looking out of the drivers window than the windscreen.
thanks chris

Sounds like the window electrics needs resetting.
I take it you mean the Vectra-B? If so...
Once you've played with the window to close it properly, open the door and disconnect the multiplug that comes from the A frame to the door for a couple of seconds. Reconnect and then syncronise the one touch windows by holding down the button in the closed position for a few seconds.

I had a very similar problem with my Mk3 Astra. The front windows would go up a little way when you hold down the button, then stop, then reverse. I assume that the reverse action is part of a safety feature in the event of the window trapping something (like a hand...) One suggestion, which worked for me, was to get the window to the top (shut) by tapping the button quickly to move the window in short bursts - this seemed to override the safety feature. When it got to the top, hold down the button on the 'up' side until you hear a faint 'click'. This seemed to reset a relay and the window worked fine again. Hope you get to the bottom of the problem...

You are supposed to open the winsow fully, let go of button and then press button again and hold for 5 secs.
then...
Close window fully, then repress button for 5 secs.
it should now learn where top and bottom is, and also the one touch operation will work.
