Volvo V40 Back Light Wiring Color Code - edterry
I am trying to install a Back Up Sensor system in my V40. In order for it to work the system must be hooked up to the back up light so when on reverse the system will be activated. I can see that the wires on the back up light are brown but I am unable to find the same wire within the many wires going from the trunk door to the body of the vehicle. Please advise.

What year is this V40? After 2000 the reverse lights were wired [in brown/orange] from the body-control module and doing anything to upset that would be a very bad idea.

Can't you wire directly to the lights?

Thanks. Yes it is a 2000. I was actually trying to find the wire within the bunch of wires comming out of the trunk door and in to the ceiling of the car. The wire is brown at the back up light but then there is no brown wire anywhere else near there. I might just run a seperate wire trhough the body of the vehicle and connect it directly to the source of the back up light bulb.
