A friend of mine has been offered a 95 XM estate 2.0l manual, can somebody here enlighten me what they are like & what to look out for. Its got 129k & the timing belt has been done just recently. Is it worth £600. MOT 6mths & couple of months tax. Advice much appreciated thanks

Have a look in the CBCB.
£300 tops.
|
Clutch (walkaway if bad)
Electrics (should be ok or lots of random faults)
Overheating.(terminal - watch c head and radiator.. walkaway if leaks)
Suspension
He should assume some of it has been neglected and may have to spend £300 to get the simpler things right.

Does this qualify as part of the illiterate seller thread - the manufacturer is Citroen!!

I'm a Cit fan, but unless you know it has been really well maintained, and you are pretty hot on DIY with old Citroens I would advise steering clear - could be a money pit. Perhaps your friend should offer to take it off the seller's hands for nowt.

It's a dog, and an underpowered one at that. Wouldn't pay more than £400 for one with 12 months MoT, good SH, and a low owner count.

Get it weighed at local weighbridge and offer steel scrap value.
