Hey guys...

If I bought from a BCA auction, how much BMW 5 Series is less than £10k (the less the better!) likely to get me?

I want a car in exceptional condition with FSH and leather, but mileage is not a concern. If anything I would prefer a 100k mile car becuase at least I know I'm not paying a premium for low mileage...

I guess what I really want to know is whether a facelift 530d SE or Sport is dooable or whether I should settle for a 525d/530i/525i...

A 530d facelift (post 2000) should easily be attainable for under 10k with a few miles (50k+).

Check out some of the BMW forums before you buy to get an idea what to look out for - the E39 is generally reliable but high miles does take a toll on them and the 530d does seem to have it's fair share of problems once the miles mount up (injectors, turbos etc.).

I've been reading the reports with interest and they are VERY encouraging indeed - doesn't seem to be that many Sports or diesels though. The sensible side of me says under £7k for a 51 plate 525iSE is so good I'd be barking to spend more on an older Diesel Sport... but then, I'm too young to be sensible..

Michael - When you looking at selling the Mondy?

This is one Backroomer that would be very interested in having it, if only I can get my business off the ground in time as I couldn't possibly justify borrowing to fund it...
