Clio getting hot! - steve-o
When ever you stop for a few minutes in my ex girlfriend's 94 Clio 1.2, the temperature gauge seems to go sky high very quickly. We know this as she stops quite frequently to practice turns in the road etc (she is a learner!!).

The fan doesnt seem to cut in either at this point. I did lub the fan mechanism as it felt very stiff when I tried to move it, but the problem is still there. It doesnt seem to be losing any water. What is wrong, what do I need to look at.

Thanks guys!

Sounds like you have two problems, one the thermostat is only partially opening.the other is fan stat not working

Rite, thanks for that. So what is my best thing to do now?

replace thermostat first, then get fan thermoswitch checked out.Not certain of clio-but shorting out terminals on connector to switch will tell if fan is working or not,ie if shorting fails to make it work-fan has failed-fans as far as I recall are sealed,so no way to lubricate/repair?.someone else may know better on this car
