New car at a discount - colin_90
I am considering buying a car from a discount web site uk-car-discount.co.uk.

Has anybody dealt with them? Are they a reputable company? Any comments would be usefaul

Another site that seems too good to be true is UKcarsdirect.com has anybody dealt with them?

Not heard of the second one, Colin, but I'd be interested to know what deal it is that you're considering.

Not wishing to divert ANY potential cliks or purchasers, from the advertisers on our site, but...

I'd say get the BEST deal on line, do your homework, then get the local dealer to you & the one in the next nearest town to do their job....get them to do you a deal.

Always better for face to face communication, for future warranty claims/service/next new car, best build up a good customer relationship - you'll not do that online!!

I've tried this with my local (Tahmes Valley) VW&Audi dealers, and they didn't want to know. I did buy a car but not from them !!
A suggestion would be www.brokerforcars.co.uk.
They give you a price, and then dierct you to a dealer whom you pay for the car, - no risk at all.
As far as I'm concerned arrogant dealers who won't do a deal can rot in hell !

I agree 100%. I've just ordered a new Fabia from a local dealer who couldn't quite match the web price but close enough for me - a couple of tanks of diesel so I gave him the business. He was pretty philosophical about selling the car at cost saying it's another unit sold towards his figures.

I bought my Passat from UK-Car-Discount. Bearing in mind that your buying from a fleet buyer, I thought that the service was good. The car was as expected and on time (to within 1/2hr). No capuchinos or magazines to read like in the dealers, but you can go to Starbucks with the wad in your back pocket. The price was as good as I could find on any website. As suggested elsewhere I phone my local VW dealer and explained the situation and that I'd rather buy from him, I thought that he was going to cry at one point! So sad was his story on why he couldn't get within £2K of the price offered by UK-Car-Discount.
The car will probably be pre-registered to a fleet company then transferred to you one day later. It took a while to explain this but now I understand it it isn't a problem.

I'm currently waiting for a new Astra SRi ordered through UK-Car-Discount. The order processing and part-ex details where handled well and an estimated delivery date was given.

The only problem I had was the estimated delivery date of 4 weeks. I'm now up to 10 weeks, but it's not their fault (Vauxhall production delays). They initially gave me two new dates, but have not responded to my most recent request for a new date (last Tues). I assume this is because Vauxhall are still not able to provide firm details.

One thing I do like, apart from the price, is the fact I have put down £500 deposit and pay the rest after checking the car over when it's eventually delivered.

I tried 3 Vauxhall dealers in my area, two of them laughed when I asked them to get 'reasonably' close to the price quoted by UK-C-D and one even told me to go place an order with UK-C-D! So I placed the order.
