Anybody had this problem.?
the car is parked and after a few minutes the internal fan motor switches on at full blast, with no ignition circuit
on. This is not the radiator fan, which is independant of the
ignition.
Any ideas? Is this crcuit fed by a relay from the ignition?
Even so why should it come on at full blast even with the control switched to off?
I'd love to see a wiring drawing, as I.m an electrical engineer

S60 Owners Manual states the following...
'In warm weather.........If necessary the fan will start 50 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off to dry the climate control system for seven minutes. The fan then switches off automatically'
I've experienced this on my S60, the interior fan blows at full speed for the seven minute duration.

Yup, PP's quote from the User manual is correct. I've walked out to our garage several times when my V70 fan has being doing it, too. I think it's a good idea, and the Volvo is the first air conditioned car I've owned that never smells musty on system startup. I also rate the climate control and air quality system as the best I've ever used. Terrifically well done.
BTW if you sit in the car in total silence at the end of a journey and the ambient noise is low enough, you will also likely hear a faint buzzing from the centre console. This is a small blower circulating air over the various sensors to help the electronic gizmos make their decisions (such as the fan blowing that started this thread).

THANK YOU!!!
My local garage was not too sure on this. As i said i know about the radiator fan. My enqiry with 'honest john' came back as a possible earth fault on the blower motor supply, which quite frankly i thouight was pretty remote.
It will be intersting to see what happens as the external temp drops over the next month
Once again many thanks
