I have a salvage Rover mini that was written off Cat D earlier this year.
It's about to go in for repairs, but despite trawling through the DVLA's website I cannot find what the procedure is to re register it. As a Cat D it doesn't require a VIC, but does it still need to be inspected by the DVLA local office ? Or can I just apply for another V5 ?
I'll be very grateful if anyone knows the answer !

Why does it need to be re-registered? Doesn't it already have an allocated registration number? If so, I'm sure you can just apply for a new V5C in your name.
Will need a new MOT after being repaired to put it back on the road, I think that's all.

Bad use of words on my part - sorry ! Yes it does have its own registration number.
Thanks - hope it's as simple as you think.

I got the V5 with mine - yours may have got misplaced in the insurer, auction, salvage chain or maybe the insurer returned the V5 to the DVLA if the vehcile was sold 'for scrap'.
Just a V5 and MOT required.

The car was mine to start with, and the insurers insisted I send them the V5.
Good news that it's just an MOT and new V5 though.
