Dealership salesmen - commission or PRP? - Oz
I am not one of this category you understand. I come from the chemical industry, salary based, and where (modest!) salary increases were based on performance against agreed objectives - Performance (or Profit) Related Pay - the final judge being (e.g.) the Sales Manager who has continuous responsibility to monitor / counsel, etc.
I may be wrong, but new car dealerships seem always to work on the principle that salepersons' earnings are mainly decided by how many cars they sell. This surely involves a large element of luck? In this situation I'd worry every time I took lunch / sick leave / holiday / go to the loo - or indeed get involved in any protracted non-sales discussion (e.g. pure service).
What I have learned at a dealership near me is that there is a considerable amount of tension between salespersons on the basis that one of them appears to the others to be creaming off more business than the others for no good reasons.

i think they should divide up the sales commision equally.

and help each other on different models/trim.

It's dog-eat-dog in multi sales staffed dealerships. Competition is encouraged, pay slips/commissions compared and any ruse is legitimate to grab a decent looking prospect.
There is often a pecking order for incoming enquiries, with long serving salespeople getting first bite of the cherry, (bribing the telephone operator/receptionist too is not unknown!)
A sharp look out is kept for incoming prospects and if the PX can be spotted and it is an undesirable shed, a quick trip to the loo is in order,
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt!
