Rover 416 over revving after gear change

Rover 416 over revving after gear change - Daz
Hi, I have an R 98 416 and sometimes when I change gear the gear lever itself shifts fine but the car continues to rev in the previous gear for about a second before changing up.

It does appear to be worse the harder you drive it, any ideas please before I take up the road?

Manual or auto?

If it's a manual as I suspect then it sounds like the clutch is slipping. Cue replacement. If it's an auto, then it could be a myriad of things from cheap (low oil level) to expensive ('box knackered).

Sorry, yes it is the manual version, the clutch bite is very high but from what I've read on mg rover this is quite normal, altho one or two people have suspected it may be on its way out!

Any idea on cost?
