My BMW project is going for its MoT tomorrow. It started up and ran this afternoon (like a good 'un). I don't expect a faliure on anything major. It is untaxed and uninsured but don't worry its back on its trailer !!

You now need to restore a 1990's labrador to go in the back PU!

A c1990 3 series IIRC, PU's first company car - bless 'im!

PU, all the best with it. I hope is goes well. No doubt it'll do someone proud when you sell it!

Several Mk's out of date now and 15 years old , I'd say becoming desirable in right condition and to enthusiast. well done! Certainly not worth scrapping! I would keep it for sunny dAYS.

I'll be taking my Triumph project for it's MOT around Easter.

I had thought about trailering, but it costs a lot.

So long as I have insurance then I can drive it to the test centre (pre-booked appointment of course!) without an MOT, right?

What about the tax situation? It's tax exempt, but I still have to get the free disc which I can't do without an MOT certificate. In this instance of driving to an MOT test is my lack of tax disc allowed? DVLA woman said "just do it, there isn't any other way", but I thought I'd sound some people out on it.

For heaven's sake, it's only a short trip. Chance it. A friend of mine completely forgot about his tax until he got the automatic fine 2 months later. He even parked in a police station car park and no-one noticed.

Hope it's OK I've assumed it's OK in the past when I've taken the Commer for an MOT after the tax has run out while it's officially SORN'ed.
What worried me last time was the garage parking it on the road outside while they were waiting for parts for a couple of days. They started keeping it inside when I pointed out that I wasn't about to be paying fines if one of the local boys in blue came past.

Hurray !

Passed?

Yep. Taxed it as well. It roars ! Handles exactly as I remember them. Been for a drive tonight.

What I have found that despite the tightness of this one how much cars have progressed.

Congrats, PU. I've been looking at E30s on Ebay and AutoTrader recently and been wincing at either the optimistic prices or the wretched state of some of these poor creatures.

Extra points, too for starting a BMW thread that doesn't feature bile and spleen:-)

Wheels went in for a re-furb today - no point doing them prior to an MoT. SWMBO has authorized keeping it - for the time being.
