sounds like loose bolt - Corsa - happyvaux
Vx Corsa 1.4L P reg, single point injection

Hi all,

got this noise when car first starts idling. Coming from around the alternator / timing belt case area. Sounds like a bolt is being spun round loose & keeps hitting metal. The noise goes completely shortly after you drive off.
I've heard noisy hydraulic tappets before on other cars, but it doesn't sound the same as that.

Hmmm, sounds like a loose cambelt. If the noise stops after a short while, this could be due to the engine expanding through heat and taking up the slack in the belt.

Or it *could* be the cambelt tensioner.

Either way, you ought to get it sorted sooner rather than later.
