Well, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a 320d auto, combination of mid life crisis and SWMBO urging me on! (did it a few weeks ago before the press launch)
Delivery has been set for late March - how do I best ensure that I don't get bumped up the list by big fleet customers etc?
Colour is Jet Black, what is the best way to maintain the glossy shine? Is it wax from new or leave it a for bit?
|
At least it doesn't seem to have been 'Bangled', still got awful IDrive though. Can't get on with it.
As for polishing it, why would you want to leave for a bit? Get polishing with a resin type polish such as Autoglym. If you're feeling really enthusiastic, follow this up with Autoglym extra gloss. This is lovely on black cars and green Range Rovers for that matter. And no I don't work for Autoglym!!

Strangely for me, I've bought it from the brochure pics without a test drive, so for the looks, it doesn't appear much different from the current car.
The i drive is an extra which I have missed, car is a standard SE.
Wouldn't a resin polish create a grinding effect on the paint?

Wouldn't a resin polish create a grinding effect on the paint?
Yes, albeit only slowly.
When it is brand new and pristine clean, polish it and give it a careful coat of Extra Gloss Protection. Leave to dry well before buffing.
Then wash regularly with a good shampoo - Autoglym or Zymol.
From time to time it will need a new polish & wax - say 6 months?

Suggest your wax it (not polish) since it is new.
Try a quality real wax like p21s available from www.seriousperformance.co.uk
Meguiars stuff is pretty good too.
You could use Autoglym Extra Gloss (again not need to use the Silicone polish as the car is new) but be careful not to apply too much and keep it away from plastic or rubber trim as it stains and is a pest to get off.
Car sounds nice BTW.

Agreed, you shouldn't polish brand new paintwork. I'm a Meguiars fan too.

If you want to wax, seal your car it depends how often you want to do it.P21s is a very good wax but will need applying every month.if you want to apply once every 5,6 months get some einszett glanz wax(you dont worry about trim, rubber it doesnt stain it).new cars are never perfect when you get them?I clayed and P21 paint cleansed mine even though it looked pretty good.Cars should be waxed from day 1 or as soon as you get the time(can be bothered)!!!

Many thanks to all. Where do you get the einsazt wax?
|
|
having read all that I don't think I'll ever order a black car!

Dont know if you can tell but im a nutter when keeping a car clean.
I wax my car every 2weeks with p21s(blinking good stuff)but as stated i am a nutter?
autoglym has no advantage over einszett(megaaa))for durabillity its very good!!!
The only thing is that it is a sealent so when you put it on it seals in the finish that you see!!(doesnt hide imperfections).
Very easy too apply long lasting what more can you ask for!!!
Try it you will like it!!!!!!
www.erazer.co.uk/ get it from here! fast delivery for me?
