CR-V Towing?

I am moving to the USA soon and am looking at getting a Honda CR-V in order to save costs on moving around the country by renting a trailer. My question is whether there is any difference between the UK and US CR-Vs?

The UK models are specified at 600KG unbraked towing capacity, but up to 1500KG with trailer brakes. The USA brochures and websites for the CR-V however only give one figure: 1500 LBS. This would seem to equate to the 600KG unbraked limit but is it safe to pull up to 1500KG / 3000LBS on a US CR-V if the trailer is double axled with its own braking system? Or are US CR-Vs incapable of pulling as much as the UK (and Australian / Canadian) models?
