Hi,
Am looking at going on holiday in the UK next year and would like to hire a MPV capable of carrying 4 adults and 2 small children (we have the car seats), plus all the luggage including double buggy (not small..)
2 questions:
1)The Sharan/Galaxy type of MPVs dont look large enough (I may be wrong), so I think I would be looking at Toyota Previa, Peugeot 807, Fiat Ulysee - can someone confirm/otherwise?
2) Does anyone know of a good Manchester based hire-company where I can specify the vehicle I want - I dont want to order what I think is going to be big enough and end up with a smaller one
thanks in advance

I would only use one of the multinationals, when they say they have that size vehicle on a particular day they are less likely to let you down, won't be cheap though.

Most rental firms will only book a class of vehicle so you can book an MPV but there is no guarantee of which make or model it will be. in this case they will book a 7 seater.
Probably the best way to guarantee you get an 807/Ullyse/Previa etc is to speak to the local dealer as they sometimes have they're own rental fleet and obviously if you book through a toyota/peugeot dealer you're guaranteed a previa/807

Hertz only have the Sharan/Galaxy combo, not really quite big enough for luggage. The next up with hertz is a 15 seat minibus.
Avis only offer "groups" the MPV group is based around the SWB Espace, again not enough luggage space.
Alamo only offer the Sharan,
Enterprise Car rental offer Previa's (probably ideal its a big breast)
www.carbox.co.uk/mpv_hire.htm offer the Ulysses with a 600 litre roof box.

Hi,
I'm in a similar position (2 adults, 4 kids) and luggage for weeks self-catering holiday? Also from Manchester!
How did you get on?

County Van Hire (Stockport and Manchester airport) rent very nice looking Transit Tourneo's, if you want lots of seats but not a crew bus.

VW Caravelle?
--
Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
|
Volkswagen garages often do rentals and u may find u can hire a Caravelle which is plenty big enough...but it is going to cost....
|
The shuttle / Caravelle comes HIGHLY recommended by me; I was in a similar situation last year, needing to rent an MPV when friends came to visit.
Read HJ's opinion and my report from the rental at www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=105
I rented from Target Van Hire at www.targetrental.co.uk/index.php?reDirFromSecure=1
The retail price (i.e. non-trade punters) was about £450 for a whole week.
