I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but we'll see...
We're looking to get a larger family car/people carrier and we've narrowed our choices down to the Peugeot 807 or the Toyota Avensis Verso. We've got about £15-16k to spend, and we will obviously get a newer and better specced 807 than Toyota for this money. The reliability is the one thing that's stopping us going straight for the Peugeot at the minute...anyone got any thoughts or ideas?

You're definitely posting in the right place.
I'm not quite sure what the point of the Avensis Verso is, to be honest. It's not quite as well packaged as the Corolla Verso, nor as spacious as a Previa, if you want a Toyota.
£16k should get you a 2 year old Previa diesel, just about, certainly at auction. The fact is that there are very few Avensis Versos out there and it's a hard car to value, but if you can find a good deal on one it may be worth considering.
Otherwise £16k is plenty to get you a new Citroën C8 2.0 HDi LX, which is the same car as the 807, but cheaper - albeit 807s tend to have a better specification.

Not a proper comparison really. Two totaly different animals built for different requirements.
you should be comparing verso v scenics, tourans, cmax, et al.
or
if you want an 807 type vehicle you should be comparing this against, previa, espace, etc etc.

On the toyota front i can say you'd be better off going for either a couple of year old Previa like David suggests or a new Corolla verso.
I work for Toyota and can't see the point in the avensis verso - if you only need the 7 seats occasionally the Corolla is miles better and if you need the seats all the time then your best off with a Previa.
One of the problems you may find is that both the previa and the Avensis Verso are a bit thin on the ground. For the money you are looking at spending you could get a new Corolla Verso through a broker - the T-Spirit spec is excellent complete with a DVD system for the back seat passengers.
