It seems stupid but I've just bought a corsa comfort 51 plate and I don't know how to open the filler flap. Is there a secret button somewhere or is it just brute force.

You just push it on the front edge, don't you?
Have you an owners manual?

The flap is unlocked when the central locking is unlocked. It can have a little resistance due to the cental locking catch going through the rubber seal around the flap, but not much. Our dealer explained when we first got our Corsa that most people forget there is two stage unlocking when they go to fill up. One press unlocks the drivers door only and the second press unlocks all the doors and the hatch, plus the petrol flap. Are you pressing the key twice before trying to open the petrol flap? If so, perhaps the catch bolt locking the flap has failed in the locked position.

Thank you thank you thank you.
A sharp knife and a skewer and half an hour's prodding didn't work but your tip did.

No problem. As soon as I saw your post I remembered the delivery chat from the salesman. It seems the dealers get frequent returns from customers who can't get the flap open. Obviously there are times when you only want the to open just the drivers door such as dark multi-storey car parks, so the two stage unlocking has its uses. Do you know it is one press to lock and a second to engage the deadlocks?
I hope the paintwork and rubber trim haven't suffered too much from the attention of the knife & skewer!
