Buying British - catcher
I'm looking to buy a family-size estate car. In some ways I'd like to buy a 'British' car. The only one I can think of would be a Rover 75 which, although is undoubtedly a decent car, doesn't exactly excite me. Does anyone know how 'British' some of the other cars of this type are? As I understand it Mondeos are built in Belgium (but engines built here?)
Thanks

Most Mondeo engines (petrol) come from Mexico, I believe, but could be shipped in from other locations depending on supply/demand.

How about an X Type diesel estate? Excellent diesel engine and a very good looking car. Made in Halewood, Liverpool.

Have a test drive of one (it wont cost anything) and you may find it as good a car as I do.

Thanks for all the replies. It's funny that the Primera and Avensis still don't spring to mind when you think of a British Car. I'd not thought about the Jag X type - worth a closer look as it is a good looking car. I currently run a mk 2 Passat and it's easy to think that's all German but there are parts on it from UK, Yugoslavia, Tunisia, France.
