Buyer rights (VW Golf TDi) - Jakester
Just a quick one and (hopefully) not that serious but...

I bought a 52 reg VW Golf TDi from a franchised dealer around 3 weeks ago. This past weekend having used the boot properly for the first time I've found out the floor lining is soaked in oil or grease, which has left marks on suitcases etc.

The question is... Does this sound to anyone like an indication of a serious problem, rather than an innocent spill from an oil can or similar that I assume it is?

Either way, where do I stand legally? Presumably I can ask the garage to pay for/ supply a new carpet as the car was not of a "satisfactory quality and fit for the purpose intended", i.e., in this case, to transport items in the boot?

Any words of wisdom much appreciated.

I don't think there's an awfull lot in the boot area to cause that so it would be down to carelesness. Just tell the garage and I'm sure they can supply you with new boot carpet etc.
