Looking for an MOT shop in/around Guildford not saying I want anyone silly but lets just say reasonable as opposed to picky or the £100 to fix that(which don't need fixing) mob.
Any recommendations gratefully received.

Don't know about the particular area but I have found that the cut-price MOT mob generally end up being the most expensive.

Look for a Test Station at your Local Authority. These are usually not allowed to carry out repairs for members of the public so they are not trying to flog you anything and you get an unbiased test.

I highly recommend Deepcut garage in Deepcut (about 4 miles south of Camberley). I always take my elderly Mondeo there, and it always passes. But I'm confident they will find anything which is really wrong.
My local BMW garage also used them for MOTs when they didn't have an MOT bay.

Fox's Garage - Middleton Industrial Estate, Woodbridge Road. Not to be confused with the Jaguar Agent.
He is an Independent who is fair, knowledgeable and treats vehicles with respect. Not cut price, but cheaper in the end.
659.

Not quite Guildford, The In and out (Texaco) garage on the A244 just south of Walton Bridge. Very fair testing. Also no appointment needed. Just turn up and queue.

your north and south seem to have flipped since your visit downunder to oz.
texaco is no more but the mot place is still operating.
queues used to be very long - wait of 2 or 3 hours not uncommon.

Oh blimey you are right - I think the water is going down the plughole the wrong way too..............
Texaco garage no more? Good the swines give me a tank full of dirty petrol in 1983

Hi Thommo,
I live in Guildflord and have been to a few different places. I have recently started to use Shalford green garage (in Shalford!)however they do specialise in Peugeot and Citroen.
I can definatly recommend theys guys!
I have also been to SAS on Slyfieldm, they specialise in Diesels.
All depends on the type of car you have!

Lex/Nationwide autocentre in Walnut Tree Close, walking distance from railway station. If you have a Tesco clubcard and/or RAC membership and/or CSMA membership, discount and club points....

I take my cars to a porsche specialist who does a free restest, hes not interested in fixing my car (only porsches!) a tenner more than elsewhere but i get a free retest if it fails. Look for somewhere like this.

Thanks for the advice guys. Just back from Deepcut Garage, car passed no problems (and no advisorys).
Nice place, friendly people and a nice looking young girl on reception to boot!
Plus a tip, the bakers up the road does a great bacon and egg roll.
