More tales from the motorway - Thommo
For reasons which I won't go in to I am currently spending a lot of time on the motorways of our fair land.

I have commented before on lane discipline but the lastest change is use of the hard shoulder.

Now if the traffic is stationary for any length of time there is a constant stream of traffic using the hard shoulder to zip past. Maybe they are getting off at the next exit or maybe they are forcing their way in further on.

On Sunday 6th March when an accident closed the M1 southbound between J14 and J13 the hard shoulder up to J14 was blocked as well as the main carriageway!

Obviously this did not auger well for emergency vehicles.

A sign of the rising level of frustration amongst motorists or a sign of the more general breakdown in law and order in this country I wonder?

A sign of the yob culture I'm afraid. PU and SWMBO were subjected to some road rage on Sunday. The driver of some old style Volvo barged into my braking distance, I flashed my lights as he casually flicked a rude gesture..SWMBO is death incarnate in these situations I have a more relaxed view. He was subjected to some turboized diesel fumes delivered by the 5 a full chat a half mile later - revenge is sweet.

Mix of ignorance and disregard. Need to watch out before joining the M1 h/s, Cowans/Freeways tow trucks can seriously spoil your day
