Exhaust repairs ???? - autumnboy

Can you repair a leaking exhaust silencer for the MOT with such as a paste repair in emergency or do you have to replace it.

What is the MOT ruling on this ????

As far as Im aware if it is not leaking it will be a pass.But beware if the paste is not set correctly and the exhaust looks ify they put their hand on the exhaust to increase pressure so if paste breaks away during test it will fail.I expect others know better?

Basically as mech1 says - as long as not leaking, and also secure, it should pass an MOT.

Anything that works will pass. I have a bodge on an intermediate silencer joint consisting of a bit of bent tinplate, exhaust paste, and two jubilee clips. It has lasted through two MOTs so far.
