Dacia Sandero essential - Dacia Sandero many warning lights on dash - Whichcar

Hello all

I have a Dacia Sandero essential.

2 years ago I turned my car on and I got a load of warning lights coming on one after the other so I waited before driving anywhere and then the power totally went.

*CHECK BREAKING SYSTEM

*CHECK POWER STREERING

*CHECK FRONT RADAR

*CHECK HILL START ASSIST

*CHECK PTE

*CHECK ESC

And there was a exclamation mark in a horse show symbol in orange.

Plus another symbol which i have attached.

My insurance breakdown took it to my local Dacia garage and they repaired it but didn't tell.me what was wrong with it.

The same thing has happened again when I turned it on apart from the power hasn't gone. It's still in the driveway as didnt want to drive it in case I was half way up the road and the power shut off like the last tine. So wondering what I should do or what advice anyone can give? Should I call my emergency motor breakdown? Thanks all

Usually with that lot I'd suspect the battery is on the way out.

It would help to know the original diagnosis report and what the fix was.

Turns out alternator has failed again despite it failing 12 months ago and being replaced and failing again 12 months later.

Is that not strange?

It was a Dacia service garage so presume so but don't know

Maybe I should ask.

Just got my car back from the Dacia garage. However the same lights are back on a few hours later after collecting it.

I asked the RAC to send me over the details of their report but I have two questions if anyone can help?

1) where is the part that mentions the alternator voltage going between 11-15 and being it being faulty?

2) Any other things on this report anyone thinks should be addressed by the garage?

What was the fix that didnt fix it ? There’s a mention of battery voltage in the central electronic module and that’s about it . Nothing about battery or alternator charging system.,

The symptoms sound very much like the alternator packing up, but it would be unusual for it to keep happening. The printout you have is just diagnostic codes and is basically meaningless. It tells you what problems the car has logged but not what caused them. If the problem is the alternator, they should be able to tell you what voltage it was/is generating and why. Take it back next time they're open and don't leave until they fix it properly.

Take it back next time they're open and don't leave until they fix it properly.

Sounds like you'll have no way of knowing that, and if you commit to it you might have to be there overnight, which they can probably legally prevent.

Maybe dial it down a bit to a more realistic "don't leave until they convince you that they MIGHT have fixed it properly."

This is a modern car. Certainty is not available.
