just a quickie this one folks,
mates just bought a mondeo lx on 15\" wheels, and has lost a plastic wheeltrim, will any 15\" trims fit?. i have found a set on e-bay for £16, that have 5 studs on the trim, but his wheel has only 4 studs,would these be o.k?

{Billy, I have moved this from IHAQ vol 32, as this is a motoring related question. DD}

If he's only lost one rim, a Ford OE one will be cheaper than a set at £16, or even if marginally more expensive, will make the car look better at resale time.
I think wheel trims have a univeral fitting but I wouldn't swear to it.
Incidentally, are you sure it has 15" rims. Current (00X on) shape cars have 16" rims; earlier ones are on 14s but there may be some late, old shape ones (V-X reg) on 15s maybe.

Billy - apologies, a tiny bit off-topic - but are the Mondeo trims made of the same shoddy soft plastic as those on the Focus? Every time the garage removes them during servicing or tyre replacement they crack or stretch. Not good enough.

morning chaps,
the mondeo is on an "n"(95?)plate, when i measured the rims from side to side i seemed to get 15.5" inches, but assumed that my tape may have stretched!. the other three are quite badly scuffed, so it will be a full set, but yes alan, they seem to be as you say, and are springing off the rim around the valve area.

Looking at the writing on the tyres will tell you what size the wheel are.

very badly scuffed D.D, think i can just make out 185/65/1? , come to mention it, struggling to make out the tread pattern too :-).

very badly scuffed D.D,
That would probably explain the missing wheel trim. Sounds like the previous owner has been kerbing the tyres a lot. If I was your mate I would give each tyre and wheel a good going over with a beedy eye, and also have the tracking checked while he's about it.
