The Merc SLK McLaren supercar is having its press launch here in sunny Cape Town. Yesterday, one day into the launch, one of the 8 was t-boned by a VW Golf, which had shot through a red light!!!! Oops. VW trashed, carbon-fibre-bodied SLK slightly dinged, but nothing requiring a lengthy [and ultra-expensive] trip to the panel shop!
Traffic Police are 'investigating' the matter!

They've just had the DaimlerChrysler bloke on the radio - he's trying very hard not to laugh as he says, in that gruff Teutonic voice: "Vel, ve did tell zer journalists that Cape Town is a very different city with its traffic rules and zer vay people are driving here..."
