Ford Focus - Crankshaft sensor - Michael Magor

Hi,

I need to replace the crankshaft sensor on my MK1 2004 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI, but have read in the manual that I need to reposition the crankshaft to TDC.

Is it essential that I do this? What's happens if I don't? The sensor replacement seems just about manageable, but the repositioning bit seems a bit too much for my basic knowledge.

Also, if anyone knows of any decent videos guides out there, I'd very appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

Michael

I don’t recall there being any specific method for changing this sensor . Remove old unit and fit new part . Why do you think the ckp sensor needs replacement, they rarely fail on these ?

I've had the code read and I've been told it's either that or the camshaft sensor. He's recommended to change both as it's shows the same fault.

I was going to start with the camshaft sensor as its easier.

It was the reposition to TDC that I was concerned about.

If it’s a non start , then more likely to be the cam sensor . Don’t think I have changed a crank sensor on one of these.

OK great, hopefully that will sort it.
