You need to measure youre oil pressure. The oil light comes on if it is low.

It could be low oil pressure, caused by a few things.

It could be a faulty oil pressure switch.

It could be faulty wiring.

When your engine is idling your oil pump is creating less pressure. When your engine is revving the oil pressure increases.

I personally wouldn't drive it until you have found the issue, if it's the oil pump failure will cause oil starvation and serious engine damage.

If it's the pressure switch that's faulty its a simple swap.
