During my current search I've noticed that the Nissan Note offers three alternatives in post 2013 form: two 1.2 petrols, one of which develops just 79 bhp, and what looks like a moderately gutsy diesel engine.

Having never owned a diesel in my life and given the bad publicity for diesels in general, it would be a major culture change for me look at one, let alone buy it.

But somehow, it seems to make sense on the Note when the diesel is nil road tax, more torquey and more powerful than at least one of the petrol alternatives.

Do peeps have any experience, knowledge or thoughts on Nissan diesels that they wouldn't mind sharing? I think the Nissan diesel as fitted to the Note is made by Renault, but that's literally all that I know about it. I haven't looked at a post 2013 plate Note nor driven one, but its an alternative that someone suggested on another thread and one that I'm becoming quite interested in.
