I have often wondered how the dealers feel on this programme, when not only do they get secretely recorded without their prior knowledge, but do they 'loose' a sale if the person decides to go for the other car on offer? I would be right miffed if I were the dealer, gave the customer a good deal on the basis of doing the deal that day, only to find out that the punter goes for the other car!
Did anyone see it last night? It certainly did little to enhance the common perception of Essex girls!
Cheers.

They'd probably feel a bit miffed at first but I assume they'd have to give permission for the films to be aired and wouldn't do so if they felt too aggrieved.

I\'m sure that that happens all the time anyway without a TV programme\'s involvement. I know I put a £10 deposit on a used Astra (all the cash I had on me at the time!) about six years ago, then saw a ZX TD for a better price. I was quite happy to forgo my tenner to get the better deal. The dealer with the Astra wasn\'t too happy though.

I can\'t speak for other BRers, but personally, I thought that she came across really well. Mad as a box of frogs though.
BTW, TT. Wouldn\'t a programme called \'Right Car Wrong Car\' miss the point slightly....;-)

I reckon Baldy thought he was on a promise there!

Watched about half of it, couldn't decide whether I disliked the girl or JB more, turned it off.

Agreed!
As to the dealers, they must have some clue as to what is going on; there is the getting together of the cars to view and try, for a start. And how much would so much TV exposure cost to buy?

Missed the start, some of the middle and the very end....
But did I get the point that she was trading a nice Xantia for some MG thingy...and parting with cash?
Some mistake surely.
I must say on behalf of Toad (who would have been on this thread in a flash)...class girl.

BTW, she was from Kent.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you Turkey - I thought she was great fun! Not surprised she was divorced, but still a fun character!!

Perhaps I was a little harsh on her and I am just a grumpy old man at 30. When you say she was a fun character, I am reminded of Mark Lamar. "When I say she was a fun charcater, what I in fact meant was....."
Perhaps I watch too much TV.

I thought she (well, her nicotine laugh to be precise) was ghastly and switched off at the point where she donned the fishnet stockings. I think they were real fishnets...
That said, I like the concept of this programme and I haggled for my recent purchase in a way I would not have dreamed of doing until recently.
I even got the mats and tank!

MM,
Where's Toad? Have I missed something?
|
|
Steve I asked exactly the same question yesterday, unfortunatley for the BR'ers he decided that he no longer wanted to participate in the BR anymore, which I think this is a loss to us all. He made me laugh. However I was told that he has an email address, if you do a search for TOTH, and is part of an email ring outside this site.

That is a shame I liked old Toad, often good for a bit of a laugh.

I just loved the programme, i thought that girl has spunk, she has me going, i am going on 59 and will shortly be getting another car, and she has got my interest going, i even said to hubby i might look at that type of car, but boring him says it will cost a bomb with insurance etc etc, well i am sick of it why cant i go mad just once in my life i have been a careful driver so insurance would not be too bad for me really, yes i feel i still have some life left, so who knows sick of being boring anyhow.May as well spend my hard earned dosh as the chancellor may want it to give to the poor, well for their cigs and booze.

Sombrueil, you'll get a pleasant surprise, if you check premiums for an Mx5!Can't be so certain on MG,BUT...
Check online quotes, with 2 or 3 people, think about limiting anual mileage,AON insurance do discounts for owners club members.
I've done all these things recently, as Mrs Vansboy is on the verge of doing EXACTLY same thing (she's 41ish & counting)!!
Regarding the prog, think the MG would have been out of the running, if a later Mx5 was presented.

I'm paying 10 quid a year more for an MX5 than I was for a Renault 5. (both them and me getting on in years)
I don't know where they found one with manual windows - an instant put-off.
|
Yes, a crazy situation, not buying a car because it doesn't have electric windows when so many are available with 'em, but that's the programme format I guess.
Just a word of caution on the MX5 insurance really. When people say MX5, they mean exactly that. The Eunos Roadster (Japanese import) is a bit pricier insurance-wise.
