Why is it I am loyal to the Honda brand.
Have I been successfuly seduced by the marketing of the brand or is it because of my own experience of their reliability.Could it be the showroom experience, they are friendly and a lovely cup of coffee is available FOC.
I confess that I have never even considered any other brand in my last 4 purchases.
Possibly if I had looked at say Audi or BMW for example I may have been tempted ( for a bit more dosh of course).
So I must be the type of customer the car manufacturers and dealerships must spend zillions on culturing.
Am I guilty of allowing myself to be relieved of my money by seduction and manipulation.

If you're happy with what you have why change, i always look for an improvement when looking for a new car, to justify the exercise.

I remember being told many years ago that one sign of middle age is buying the same marque again (and again).

I don't see the problem Mal - you're a happy customer! In that case unless you fancy a change then why change car brand?
My car is badly built, unreliable and troublesome. The dealer has an appalling and rude attitude and also appears prone to lying as well. Thus I will never buy from manufacturer nor dealer again for those reasons.
If my next car is wonderful and I am pleased with my treatment at the hands of the dealer, chances are I'll be repeating the performance with them a few years later.

Honda customers are fiercely loyal in my experience. I suspect this is because of the reasons for their loyalty - quality engineering, reliability, innovation, etc. So many manufacturers rely heavily on image to promote their models, Honda don't need to. No one could call the Civic a 'desirable' car, in the traditional sense. It's boring. However, I personally delight in a great feeling of smugness, as I cruise around in my humble '96 lsi, safe in the knowledge that I own a good car, not just a car that the admen tell me is good.

I am loyal to Audi because (a) we have always been pleased with the cars and (b) we get treated well. I will not buy VW personally or (now) professionally because (a) I am sick of bad service and (b) I am fed up with our fleet drivers complaining about the Golfs.
Work that one out.

Citroen loyalty comes because there is something that we love about the cars, they may not be the most reliable or handle the best, but they are comfortable and economical and make you smile. They are just nice and easy to get on with.

My Saxo was not exactly trouble free, but I loved it. Still makes me smile when I get a Saxo courtesy car.
The saxo had:
Overhauled gearbox, replacement gearbox, replacement clutch (as they knackered it when doing the box), brakes pulled to the sde, mushy brake pedal, handbrake needing adjusting, rear shoes stopped self adjusting, car broken into twice.
But it was all done under warranty, I sold the car at 10 months to get a Xsara as I wanted more toys and space.
The Xsara has been very reliable. Bought at 18 months old, now it is 3 1/2, central locking not too reliable, coil needed replacing to cure misfire, clutch cable and a few things beyond Citroens control like punctures, rear end smash and car park mystery scrape.
I'd consider a C5 next, in fact, I cannot think of anything else that I would want or I find comfy.

2CV - certainly
DS - goddess in French, probably the prettiest car of all time, ever seen a Cabriolet?
Xantia? - some mistake surely? The rot set in some time before then.

Many people have had several BXses and Xantiae. More than a handfull carry on to top 250,000 miles with little more than regular servicing and sphere changes.
