Audi A4 Avant - Audi A4 2010 - reattach rear view mirror - pelethar

One of my kids knocked the rear view mirror off the windscreen and I am damned if I can work out how to reattach it. Doesn't seem broken at all.

It's like the one in the second picture down on this page:

It's currently dangling by the wire that I assume is related to the auto dim thing that I never use. Seen some pages that seem to indicate I should remove the bit that sits over the wire but to be honest can't work out how to even do that without snapping it. Any help would be appreciated

I think you will find that the plastic trim needs to be unclipped first before the mirror can be re-fitted.Looks like a locate and twist onto the screen base fitting.You may need to apply a little force to get the plastic trim off,they are usually a tight fit.Or run a hairdryer across it carefully to soften it up a bt.
