I had understood, from "The Backroom", that once a vehicle was over 40 years old it was eligible for exemption from Road Tax.

I had therefore assumed that my Lightweight, manufactured on 1 October 1975, would be exempt, but I see from the DVLA's INF 34 that the Exemption only applies to vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1975....

I have written to the DVLA for clarification, but has anyone else been labouring under the same delusion?

The date changes April 1st each year.
