Subaru Forester 2.0 non-turbo - Shrill metallic noise - dimdip

Wonder if anyone can advise please: my 2003 Forester with 92,000 miles has started to make a shrill high-pitched noise when accelerating firmly at higher revs. Sounds like it's from the front, and related directly to engine speed, so presumably it's coming from the engine.

The engine oil+filter were replaced the week before last without any effect.

Thanks for any suggestions of things that it might be.

Have you checked things like alternator belt(loose) water pump (noisy) turbo flexi pipes for cracks breaks, power steering belt (assuming its not electric)

Just a thought

Thanks bolt, it had a service at the same time as the oil change where they replaced the aircon belt since it was worn, so I hope they checked the other belts at the same time, but will check the others myself as you suggest. It doesn't have a turbo but the water pump sounds like a good suspect. Cheers.
