Chevrolet Matiz 2008 - Engine management light on - tommybruce

Just had clutch replaced...now the car is difficult to start and when it does the engine is hunting and the revs go up and down all by themselves..and now the engine management light has come on...everything was fine before I got the clutch replaced..is itj just coincidence or has something been done whilst the clutch was being replaced... Clutc replaced 1 day ago.

Perhaps they left the crankshaft sensor disconnected. In its absence the engine may start and run using the camshaft sensor for an engine speed signal, but this is not as accurate. A scantest should help you to determine where the fault lies, but fault codes indicate from where the fault information is being received, and not necessarily what is at fault.

Sorry about the delay replying......just got new laptop......other one died.....

however, you were absolutely spot on.....crankshaft sensor disconnected.......

5 minute job and all was well.....thank you.
