Just some advise people . Went into Vauxhall yesterday looking at a second hand ( sort of ) car at the main Eden Vauxhall in Exeter. This Astra gtc bi-turbo priced at £15999. Obviously going in with a price in mind of how much I want to pay a month. Anyway after the talk , test drive and playing it safe the figures started to come out and they were well over what I wanted at £300 a month . Played this down for awhile and got this price down to £260 with about £500 marked off the car a few of the extras knocked off and asked for a lower APR. Ideally I don't want to be paying any more than £250 per month . Do you think there will be anymore play in there figures . Looking at what the cars are up for on autotrafer private and dealers there all marked around or near the price they have listed . Any input would be great as this was the first time I've haggled any price down.. To the end the story obviously walked out and kept them wondering
It's all about APR, not that you say what it is - you don't have to use the dealers' finance or that from the manufacturer, you're free to get the best deal you can on the open market.
I'm just doing a deal on a new VW at 6.1% APR, possibly a bit high but then I'm also getting £5,000 deposit contribution from VW - set up before their scandal broke so not desparation on VW's part.
